Pit And Fissure Sealants

Pit And Fissure Sealants

Newly formed teeth have deep groves on the chewing surface. Food tend to get trapped in these deep grooves if not brushed away, causing decay to initiate. To prevent this from happening, our dentists recommend application of pit and fissure sealants which is a thin coating of material applied on the chewing surface of teeth, closing off or sealing the deep groves and preventing it progressing onto tooth decay.

Since these are not fillings and the teeth are not cut or prepared for it, these sealants get worn away and need to be replaced every 1-2 years.
